All the versions I have downloaded from Snitz I have added their versions to them in this way. In TextPad, it took me less than two minutes to do a Find and Replace for that phrase for each download.
I don't think what I am requesting is that much of a bother to do ... five minutes tops.
You're right, it might help (especially when people incist on removing the "powered by" link) and is a small edit to make.

Will you kill me Rui ? What do you mean by saying "a bit"? I plan to add more stuf to v4b04 other than extracting the strings... Admin stuff, date-time stuff, etc.
Bozden my friend, I would never think about doing that . Well, I must admit that I thought that you would release a new version with just the strings extracted and I would love that. I've been using 3.4's beta in Davio's test forum and I really like it. I would like to see that in a translated version as soon as possible.
Of course I can understand if you think otherwise. Let's say I'm just lobbying a bit to have you change your mind .

Until now I used "first person singular", but the timing and decision for releases are made by the copyright owners. And there is no ETA .

It's a good idea, but that's what the ALT text on the "powered by" link/image is for.

If the version is displayed in that many places wouldn't it be a good idea to use a var so it can be changed in one place and displayed in many? Besides how many newbies know how to display an alt tag? In a Snitz forum there may be many real new newbies, unlike a forum such as here where tech people and developers gather. I can just hear the Help Desk conversation now ...
User: What version of Snitz do I have? Help: Hold your mouse over the image. User: For how long? Help: Until text is displayed with the version number. User: Okay. After waiting about a minute ... Help: Do you see the text yet? User: No. It sure is a pain holding the mouse over the image on the monitor screen. Isn't there a better way?
Besides, seeing 3.4 prominently (I hope spelling doesn't count here! ) displayed at the top of the web page will be great! Big, bold, blinking numbers!
Mike
Thank God for edit. Even previewing this message 3 times did't help!

It shouldn't affect the working of most mods, but you will need to reinstall them very carefully as the base code is significantly different
hopefully the various mod authors will update the mods for the new version...

Some will, others won't. The most important reason for MOD developers not to update their MODs is that they've moved on to other projects and those MODs are now "abandoned". Until someone else decides to update the MOD and release it as a new version, those MODs won't get updated.
That's the good thing about open source: anyone can pick up where someone else left off

And let's not turn this topic into "Can you add this" and "It would be good if this was in the next version" kind of thing.
We have spent long enough on this version. We have added in a lot of ideas that users wanted to see in the Snitz Forums. Anything else will have to wait for the next version.
I can probably say on behalf of the team that we are tired to see the 3.4 version in beta. We would like to release it. So if anyone else has some great ideas that they want to see in the Snitz Forums, write it down somewhere or keep it in a txt file for safe keeping or post it in the DEV Discussions forum. So you won't forget to suggest it for the next version.

Hello,
The new version of Snitz sounds fantastic, just no release date to go on..
There is still no indication in any posts I have read that states when Snitz 3.4 will be released. Has anyone got any ideas on a firm date of the release yet?
The new version shows it as having most of the things I would like to have in a forum (with out all the hard work or Active Users 4)...
Any info would be great, not only for me, but the other users of Snitz.

like I have said already in this very thread NO, it will be released when it is ready, what is the point in giving you a date which is unlikely to be met, we all have lives, so are unable to guarentee when we will have the time to finish.

Is this list still up to date? I'm starting to plan what MODs I want to add after 3.4 is installed.
Thanks.

Everything listed in that post is included in the 3.4 version. We have added some more changes to the forum but nothing major. What you see listed there is basically the more noticeable features.

Unless you are going to write the MODs yourself I would plan on installing MODs that the MOD writers plan on updating for 3.4. Otherwise you might be very disappointed.

Did not understand "you might be very disappointed". Is that because it will be difficult? If so, why would 3.4 be more difficult than previous versions? Please enlighten me about what you meant.
My plan is to use available MODs as I am not an ASP guru by any means. However some authors may choose not to update their MODs for one reason or another. But I want to start planning now so I can get the forum up and running asap. I've been waiting for 3.4 because of the significant advantages over 3.3.05 PLUS all of the MODs.
Thanks.
Mike
