I am going to preface this topic with: I am not server-savvy so please bear with me!
my company has switched servers, but name for the mail server has stayed the same. So it was on "bigmom" at mail.ourdomain.org (i didn't name the server, I just have to work with it) and now its on "prodexchange1" at mail.ourdomain.org.
I cannot figure out how to point the forum to the correct server. Please let me know if this is not clear.< |

so, as I understood the only thing that you changed was the email address right?
from bigmom to prodexchange1 ?
your you mean the actual server? is the forum in the same LAN as the new email server? can you send an email and receive from the new one?
all you need is the SMTP Server that you are using as well it's credentials so you can send email from the Forum, ask this to your IT guy or company that installed the new Server.< |

yes the server has changed. The forum is located on one server, and the mail server is located on prodexchange1 now.
The problem is I don't know where in the code of Snitz to find the line to change where it's pointing to.
thanks!< |

@ruirib - yes, the problem is that the email server address in the same: mail.ourdomain.org - just a new server. thanks tho
@balexandre - not to be a thicky, but I don't see where I am suppose to change the code. It seems that its all variables called from other pages. Not a constant that I can hard code in.< |

I'm sorry, but if the email server address is the same, what is your problem? If the email server address is the same, shouldn't be your network admin to change the IPs or something?
I fail to understand what your problem is. Maybe I can if you tell me what you know have for email server configuration...< |

My network guys tell me that the problem is that the forum is not pointing to the new server. What happens is that when someone posts a topic, the subscription message to the mailing list comes back as "You do not have permission to send to this recipient". The reason that they suspect this is that a new exchange server was installed last month. Perhaps this isn't the problem at all. I just admin the list - what do I know. If you have any ideas, I would love to hear them.< |

If the forum is not "pointing" to the new server, who is "telling" the forum that it does not have permission to send messages?
You may have an authentication issue or a relay issue. The message does suggest a realy issue, but I can't say that I have any experience with exchange. Maybe you should ask your network guys two things:
1. Does the exchange server require authentication to send emails? 2. Is relaying enabled in the server?
You can also ask them the very first question I asked you.< |

I sent this off to the network guys and told them this was their job to fix it and they did. Not to be unhelpful but I haven't the faintest idea what they did but its working now. Thank you for your input. < |
