Really? Have you dealt a lot with both? So much 'good stuff' comes for free with MSSQL compared with Oracle - for instance...
Self-tuning (for the past decade or so - beats 20mins/day [3 weeks/year] tuning and re-statisticising Oracle) Includes DTS plus simple interfaces (A lot of people buy MSSQL just for DTS) Includes an excellent OLAP engine plus simple interfaces Cheaper to support etc.
If you want to try a different free Enterprise dbengine, you should try Postgres - closer to Oracle than MSSQL Server (in that you need a proper DBA, and it ises a variant of PL/SQL) and worth every penny! |
