I have a client who must use a *nix system (don't ask ) so they can't use Snitz but they want the features of Snitz including :

- Event calendar (where the event is really a new topic thread, and also a calendar entry)
- Private messages
- etc..

I thought Invision would do it, but the calendar entries don't create new threads in the forum. Any ideas what other forum software could do this ?

No probs, I was going to try the "Snitz on 'Nix" just to see if it would work, but I doubt it.

Sorry, I forgot about phpbb I usually transfer everyone onto a Wintel box and use Snitz but these guys must stay on *nix

Where do you get Chilli from these days ?

And it's via a hoster, so we have to stick with what they have.

Chilli!Soft ASP sucks to be honest. It doesn't do a good job of running ASP. Stick to a native windows enviroment if you want to run pure ASP apps.

I'd agree with sr_erick .. there is a developers version I think someone mentioned you could try of Chili!ASP, I don't know where to get it from though .. I have an early version of Chili!ASP on a Cobalt RAQ applicance that seems to work ok with Snitz.

Not only does it suck, but doesn't it cost almost as much as windows 2000 server?

You can get a trial version from Sun Java System Active Server Pages 4.0.

The price for the non-eval version is: $US495.00 (Approx: $AUS683.00).

You can buy Windows 2003 web edition for less than that I'm sure.

Thanks for all the info guys, but it doesn't really help with my original enquiry

They are locked in to a *nix host that allows ASP, I don't think that's enough to use Snitz (+ certain MODs they need) so any suggestions for ALTERNATE forum software would be great

TIA ...

VBulletin is pretty nice, but it costs and I don't know if it supports all your requirements or not tho.

vBulletin doesn't cut it because you have to pay for it

Invision doesn't cut it because it doesn't handle events like Snitz. i.e. members can't reply to an event entry.

So, I'm getting really pedantic now aren't I ?
