I have become used to using HTML-Kit from www.chami.com I have also used EditPlus which we use at work and I have a license for. I don't like it as much as HTML-Kit but it would have to be my second choice.

I use Jedit, which works well for me, especially the ability to edit lots of files at the same time. Its free too which helps!

If it gave line numbers then it would be perfect, it has never ever crashed on me. The other problem is that it can only handle small files. Very handy when away from home since it is on every Windows PC.
