The subject is basically what I am asking. You know that little "Reset Fields" or just plain old "Reset" button beside the Submit button on the posting page. Does anyone use it?
Maybe it is useful, the few times, you use it when 'Editing' your post and you want to undo the changes you made and start back from the original post.
But there have been more often than a few times, when I have typed a post, went to click the preview button but accidentally clicked the Reset button and everything I just typed out is gone. Anyone understand the frustration that brings? lol
I actually thought we had a javascript popup box that asks us if we are sure we want to reset the form, before we mistakingly erase everything. I must be imagining things.
Apart from that, who uses the Reset button on a normal basis when filling out a form? Not me! |

I'm glad this was brought up....I was afraid I was the only one to hit the wrong button...Why isn't their a popup box? Souldn't that be obvious? I think it should be removed or at least incorporate an undo function. |

We could either remove the "Reset Fields" button altogether, or have it popup a javascript "Are you sure?" box. |

Maybe if someone could explain to me a real-world example of why Reset would be used? I'm for ditching the button completely, but I would understand why some people would rather keep it and implement the javascript option for confirming the Reset option. |

I would think it would be better used for forms that have multiple select boxes, or multiple text input boxes. So you could reset them all at once. But, if you just have a subject line and a message area (in the case of a topic), or just a message area (in the case of a reply), it's really not necessary. |

Yeah don't think I've ever used it, I'm sure if I removed it from my forum no-one would realise for months. |

hmmm, I'm going to remove mine to see if anyone catches that on my forum. I'll report back if anyone does in the days/weeks to come. |

the deed is done... removed from both the normal posting options and the quick reply. it is really noticeable in its absence though due to the spacing it took up. I think someone will definitely notice. |
