As you can check out at the demo forum I posted above, as admin you may set if the email field is visible and if it's required.

Here's a screenie of the (current) feature configuration:

My MODs:
Birthdays - Custom Policy - F.A.Q. Administration - Forum Rules - Guestbook
Links Manager - MyOwnGoogle - Profile Views - Search Log - WebSearch

Useful stuff:

How about allowing moderation of new links before they are displayed on the site? It might turn out handy to avoid links to unwanted sites.

I posted a large image file and it took it although this should probably be limited somehow. The links mod we use at ServerHacker has a drop down menu for the image size but I never tested it to see how large an image it would take. Additionally we have a "link type" such as article, external, download...this would give you another important sorting option for displaying different types of information. This mod looks very clean and has a better backend then the one that is part of the SH portal. Looks like a great piece of work.

Couple of thoughts on this (apart from the fact it looks good)
1. Is it possible to turn the rating system off?
2. Links have to be approved by Admin - could there be a method for selected users (not necessarily moderators/admins) to do the approval. Sometimes the work load on an admin is great enough without having to do the links approval as well and I would not want to give those that are doing the approval full admin rights.

Cheers
Neil

I'll add that now.

I'm not sure about this one.
Seems too much work that can be avoided by making that certain member a moderator.

I think it should work if you post subcategories like "Articles", "Files", etc., as I've done it here (look at "Snitz Resources").

Not a problem but it would have been nice to see several layers of sub catogories. The system I am looking at replacing has a tree for example of

CFS2 Missions -> CFS2 Campaigns -> AF Midway -> Links
CFS2 Missions -> CFS2 Campaigns -> EFDT Team -> Kursk -> Links

I would admit I am thinking of using this as a download manager as opposed to a links manager :-)

As a follow up to these how easy would it be to configure the database/software so it could be used in two places on the site - once as a link manager and once as a download manager?

Always wanting more :-)

I doubt I'll include this, I've tried it and it only led to complications when upgrading from LM2.

As you can see here you may use the Links Manager 3 as a download manager, article resource, or whatever.

Hmmm, not sure about this one. I'll take a look at this when I'm done with the Beta.

Not sure, people keep suggesting new features , but I expect the Beta to be available in about 1 week.
