OK, finally I've got something to show - a live online demo of the Links Manager 3 Beta!
A testing forum with the MOD installed is available at http://www.onewaymule.org/onewayscripts/lm3/
I've created several test accounts for you (username/password): - admin1/admin1 - admin2/admin2 - moderator1/mod1 - moderator2/mod2 - member1/member1 - member2/member2 I think the usernames are self-explanatory.
You may try around with the features, add/edit/remove links/subcats/categories as you like, play around!
Some work still has to be done, but I'll release the Beta this weekend.
In the meantime here's a list of features requested by users and their status: - Links editable from links.asp page - yes - Quick list of bad links and links to approve in admin area - yes - Submitters are able to edit their links - yes - Details (description, keywords,...) optional (configured by admin) - yes - Sumbit links to categories and subcategories - yes - Links opened in same or new window - yes - Date Added + Last Update - yes - Keep the rating system - yes - Reduce amount of files (47 asp files in LM2) - yes - Use forum code in description - yes - Optional description for categories and subcategoris - yes - Improved security - yes - All code in response.write - yes - Auto-insert email for members - yes - Display Max Rating dependend of rating display (5 for stars, 10 for rating) - yes - Turn Rating System on/off - yes - Configure image size on link sumbission - yes - JavaScript counter for Description and Keywords field - yes - Additional field: Language (51 languages to choose from) - yes - Allow guest submissions - yes - Upgrade from Links Manager 2 - not tested yet - Tested with MySQL and SQL Server - not tested yet - Send email/PM to admin on link submission - not planned - Send email/PM to user when link reviewed - not planned - Additional link detail fields - no longer included
If you have questions, comments, suggestions or bug reports, post them here. Thanks! |

Looks VERY good OWM! Looking forward to it.
One question I had on the last version and looks to be the same on yours, is why request the e-mail address and not automate that? Is it for unregistered users? If so, why not still automate it for logged in users? No biggie, just wondering. |

Looks great OneWayMule!
One suggestion: When you rate a link, you give it a value from 1-10, but the maximum stars that show up in the listing is five. This should be consistent in order to avoid confusion. I would suggest changing the rating scale from 1-10 to 1-5 (rather than displaying up to 10 stars). |

That looks really good, a great MOD! Do you think it will be possible to include the "Categories & Subcategories" table in the forum footer, to make it appear at the bottom of each page? |

Pardon my confusion - now people aren't asked for their email address when submitting a link? Or is this an option?
For my site, my links are associated with my site, not my forums. People submit links who are not members, nor do I want to require them to sign up (and make it look like I'm hording email addresses), and some members submit sites with that site's proper email address (so someone knows I'm linking to them, and they link back).
Just my 2cents. |
