But I have a urgent question. I really like tu use this forum on my site, but I´ve got hundreds of users per day and lots of postings ( 5000 Users, 40 Gig traffic a month and 300 postings a day. Millions of hits).

So, has anyone tested this forum with this lots of hits??

Im running an win2000 server with 2 websites and going to use mysql database.

Lucky you, a forum with real live traffic! I think as long as you are using SQL Server you will be fine, but Mysql you will have to do much more debugging to get it working. many of our members have used mysql and I know SH is working with it to see if he can get v9 compatibility but v8 needs tweaking with mysql. You may want to go to the SQl forum on the site and read some of the mySql posts and contact some of the members using it. I am using SQL Server and it works great but I don't have the heavy traffic, but the core db and forun is all Snitz base code and it handles everything fine here on this forum. So I don't think traffic will be an issue but mySql code compatability will be to some extent until you get it tweaked.

I was wondering if someone with more knowledge than me (my knowledge is very small) can help me. After installing this fully Moded forum, I have this error come up when trying to run it:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Operation must use an updateable query.

/forums/forum/inc_func_common.asp, line 189

Line 189 in inc_func_common.asp is :

my_conn.execute (strSql)

At first I thought this was a permission problem, so I contacted my host and asked them to set the permissions on the forum folders to READ/WRITE, but they already were set. Any ideas what it could be causing this problem?

I then tried deleting line 189, just to see what happens. The forum then ran, but came up with an error mentioning a line in another file (can't remember which file) that reffered to my_conn.execute again. What is this my_conn.execute? How can I fix this problem?

I'm hoping someone can help me, as I have very little knowledge of programming and so far this forum has helped me very much.

Thankyou in advance.

The database folder does not have read/write permissions. I get that error when the permissions for my database folder get messed up.

All I can say is THIS ADD-ON ROCKS!
I started using the Snitz Forum on my site, and loved it! Then, after some minor trouble, I installed this MOD, and this is what a forum should look and feel! Wow! Thanks everyone for producing such great products with full support....AND IT'S ALL FREE!

It's good to see that some things on the Internet are still out there developed by the people, for the people, and without a F@$king pricetag!

Keep Up the Good Work!

A question for a problem.

My web site developer recently tried to upgrade my forum www.goblinsgames.com with this new mod. The problem is that she can get the forum MOD working but when she tries to import my existing data base of members and also posts it wont work.

Can anyone help, she has told me that she has tried the scripts every wich way but just cannot get it all to work when she tries to import or whatever my members and posts into it.

Any help for this would be appreciated.

Awesome modded forum ServerHacker!! Thank you very much for building and distributing this! It looks very nice and has taken a ton of time, I'm sure.

I got a fully modded forum set up in just a day and a half! (Had to customize it of course ).

Wow... quite a thing! Please help me with a few questions:

Is the /FORUM folder supposed to be a sub directory or a top level folder? I uploaded all of the files in the /FORUM folder to my existing forum directory. Is that wrong?

My polls appear to have updated properly but no votes display.

How do you turn off the hover colors "feature"? I've turned it off and on several times but it persists.

Is there any way to add/remove the links along the top? Rabble, Guestbook, etc.

How do you turn off Private Messages?

How do you turn off the news feed?

Thanks in advance.

I have been running a snitz forum for a short while and have installed a few mods, and struggled, and have been thinking about getting SH's modified Snitz forum. I have tried following the links to SH's site, but they don't work.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Solution can be found on SH forum. Do a search for text based counter.

A temporary solution is to remove the include from the sitenews.asp file.
What I did was implement rgrunds simple site-stat counter. It's a lot better
tool and will give you much more info.

Here is a link to my Snitz powered Drag Racing site.
