I was wondering if anyone was going to "update" this one for 3.4. I can only assume that with the functions included it will still work (if anyone involved with 3.4 who has it can let us know, that would be great too). Thanx.

Wow, I took a look at the link manager code and it needs some work besides updating to 3.4 to at least make it more efficient. All the recordsets are not closed and set to nothing which might sound insignificant but Snitz has a reputation among ISPs as a resource hog and forums are looked at first to isolate on servers with problems. Not freeing these resources is a big reason why. Shoot, I thought I had caught all these

Yeah, I'm planning on doing Links Manager v3.0

I'll start from scratch... new code, less files, same features.
Will be available for v3.4, v3.3(.05), v3.1(SR4).

If anyone has any suggestions, post em here.

Any possibility of using the same db structure as the old Links Manager? Or, if not, the possibility of importing?

That's my suggestion as I have 2-300 links in my Links Manager.

Soon as Snitz "Officially" releases 3.4 I'd imagine the MOD DEV will either update their MODS or build new ones. Nobody can do anything but sit back and wait until 3.4 is released because the code is different and nobody knows how to write MODS yet.

Don't have so many steps to move a link from one category to another or to change the link and its properties.

I think you are probably planning on something like this since you said there will be less pages to the 3.0 version.

Yes. I wanted to use the Links Manager v2.0 on my site, but I found out that I don't like the administration part. And, as said above, it had way too much files included.

There are 2 ways of how to edit a link in LM v3.0:
1 - from the page where the link is displayed (visible for admins only, maybe I'll add the option for admins to let moderators edit/appove them too)
2 - a quick list of all links in the admin area with links to edit/delete/approve.

So it's 1 click to the edit screen; edit properties &submit, done.

Maybe I'll do that.

I'm currently doing versions for v3.3 and v3.1, and then (when v3.4 is out) release a v3.4 version.
I'll do a standalone script if I find the time.

Thanks, couldn´t it be just as simple as removing the forum references?

Because I wanted to start discussion on it just like the one that is occuring. I wasn't asking a moderator if it will work, I wanted to know if anyone was considering working on this and OneWayMule is.

rick7165 - as the person who orginally made this mod (or updated it) is no longer working with it, I wanted to see if anyone new was going to take over.

I don't mean to be rude guys, I truly don't. I understand many people are saying "will this work?", "will this be done?" and that's irritating after a while, but I wanted to find out if anyone at all would be doing this one or if I would have to do it. I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to plan it out. Sure, nothing can be written yet to make it work, but if one was going to take the old code and convert it, even getting a jump by converting it all to response.write to conform with Snitz could be a help. Some statements could even be rewritten to get a jump too. That's all I was looking to do.

OneWayMule - I'll help you out if you want. The only thing off the top of my head to add to what you'd like to do is the ability to let users change their rankings and/or comments. Sites can change and so can opinions. If you want to go about this through e-mail just shoot me a note.

The Links Manager was done by Aznknight (check this site). rick7165 has done modifications so it works for Huw's version (I think).

That's already done, only forum members who submitted links are able to edit them.
Guests (if enabled by admins) aren't able to edit links they've posted.
Not sure if comments will be editable. I'll think about that.

VidkaFish, I'll let you know when I come to a final stage, and send you a copy to test it if you like.
(Suggestions still welcome)

This all sounds great. It is a huge hassle to log into the admin area to see if there are new links. Some sort of message indicating that there are new links to validate might be nice with a link to take you right there would be very helpful.

How about including it into the top menu? Something like:

Home | Profile | Register | Active Topics | Members | Search | FAQ | Links (3 new)

The link leads you to a list of new submitted links that have to be approved.
