I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I noticed this on my own site a couple times and thought it wise to let you all know about it:

when I, as admin, write a topic on my forums and find a typo, I go back to edit it. Makes sense, but after having made the change, I receive an e-mail from my forums that I've moved that topic to the same place.

The same thing happened just a second ago when I was going to move a topic in the Help: General/Current version forum to the MOD W/O code forum but decided not to when I was on post.asp. The author says he got an e-mail but I never mailed him.

This is worth looking into 'cause you're not supposed to get an e-mail if you, as admin or moderator, fix a typo or change the subject of a topic.

Thanks for the reply, but Richard says this in that topic (hadn't seen that one so sorry for starting a new topic):
quote:

confirmed that this does fix that bug.

I added cLng() around all instances of aryForum(0) and aryForum(1) within the if/then for MethodType = "EditTopic".

fixed on this site.

Obviously it's not fixed if it's still sending mails

Well, maybe the situation on this site is a different one, because you said you didn't move the post after all, but that fix will probably solve the problem in your site (it did on mine today, cause I got the same situation).

Are you sure about the email here? Can you ask the guy what email did he get?

It must be late, or a misunderstanding between me and philsbbs, 'cause I could've sworn that he said he'd gotten an e-mail from me. I mailed him and asked him about it, but he said he didn't get an e-mail but was referring to his problem

Don't know about you, but I need more coffee...

Frutzle, he corrected himself in his topic:

thanks for the email reply but any news on the sort question.

Frutzle
I didn't send you any e-mails... Perhaps there IS a bug in these forums that I should tell the Dev team about.

philsbbs
i meant thanks for the reply on the

WHERE " & strMemberTablePrefix & "MEMBERS.M_EMAIL <> ""
So he meant the reply.

And Frutzle, you need more than just 1 cup of coffee.

That's what I thought too... So I made a whole pot Seeing that it's only 2am and drinking a full pot of coffee takes me an hour or two, I'll be up for a while longer. Be afraid! Be very afraid

Roland, I had the same exact problem and the fix that was reported earlier did in fact fix it for me. I haven't had any instances of this occuring anymore when I edit topics.

I don't see it as a problem for myself on my forums because I hardly use them (waiting for 3.4 ) and to be honest I thought it was a problem on my side that appeared after editing post.asp to get something done.

Anyway, I have to get back to editing my site... lots to do...

*shutters at the thought of going to 3.4*

although I will probably use the new version for another forum I will be implementing for one of our database user groups.

No need to shudder, it is a little daunting I will admit, but with a bit of care (and a lot moore patience) you should get to grips with 3.4 fairly quickly.

some pointers to prepare you if you have mods to convert.

there is no longer an inc_top or inc_top_short, they are now called inc_header to match inc_footer.

there is no longer an inc_functions.asp, it has been split into about 8 smaller includes, generally you will need inc_func_common, if you are daling with member you will need inc_func_member as well, etc.

Hopefully we will be releaing some MOD guidlines at or about the same time explaining some of this.

I am also hoping to have my modded forum close to release by the time 3.4 goes live, so for a set of standard mods, you will be able to download one already done
