Here is a very useful download for new Snitz members:

Clean Snitz 3.3.XX install with over 40 bug fixes and hide email patch

I took a clean version of Snitz and added over 40 bug fixes including the security bug in members.asp, print hole in pop_printer_friendly.asp, private forums bug, hot topics bug, post.asp & post_info.asp and many more!

I have also added the Hide Email patch, so your users can avoid being spammed.

EDIT 4/30/02: Added another bug fix in post.asp and fixed a bug fix in topic.asp.

EDIT 5/01/02: Minor bug fix on members.asp (see below for detail).

EDIT 5/18/02: ZIP has been updated to include the new cookie security patch.

EDIT 5/18/02: ZIP has been updated to include the new profile security patch.

EDIT 5/23/02: ZIP has been updated to include the new post and post_info security patches. It also includes some minor HTML bug fixes.

EDIT 5/24/02: ZIP has been updated to fix a bug introduced by one of the security patches. The only changed file is post_info.asp.

EDIT 5/26/02: ZIP has been updated to fix a minor bug in inc_top.asp. This is not a critical update.

EDIT 6/06/02: ZIP has been updated to fix a minor bug in pop_send_to_friend.asp. This is not a critical update.

EDIT 7/30/02: ZIP has been updated to fix the new pop_messengers security bug. The only file changed was pop_messengers.asp.

EDIT 8/17/02: ZIP has been updated to fix the pop_mail.asp security bug. The only file changed was pop_mail.asp.

EDIT 8/17/02: ZIP has been updated to fix the default.asp security bug. The only file changed was default.asp.

Enjoy!

Excellent Idea Aaron.

Have moved it to the announcements forum so people will see it easier, stuff gets a bit lost in the other forums.

Thankyou very much Aaron. That was extremely considerate of you.

I was waiting for the new version but I am inclined to use this now you have posted it and then upgrade later.

Maybe a stupid question... But as long we do not change the database (MS Access) we don't loose our members and forums after uploding the whole thing?

Yes... just do not copy the MDB that comes with it over yours.

BTW: Just added the file to include another bug.

Aaron,

Do you have a list of the bug fixes? I'm curious if any of the performance enhancements were added. Specifically any that would reduce the number of calls to the database.

No performance enhancements were added.

Only reported BUGS that caused funky behavior.

Arron,

I downloaded the zip and found a problem in the members.asp.

here is the message :-

Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a03f4'

Expected 'If'

/the_writers_forum/members.asp, line 61

end
---^

The rest of the fixes are "looking good" ....

Nigel.

Here is the problem:

Replace:

end
if
SearchName = trim(chkString(Request("M_NAME"),"SQLString"))

With:

end if
SearchName = trim(chkString(Request("M_NAME"),"SQLString"))

That should fix the problem. I am updating the ZIP now.

Sounds like this should become v 3.3.04. No point people downloading 3.3.03 if it's got all these bugs, is there?

V3.4 should be coming out in the very near future. Aaron was just nice enough to incorporate some bug fixes (especially the critical security ones) into the 3.3 version until the 3.4 version comes out...

Does this include the latest members.asp bug?

Thnaks very much for this - i was about to suggest some kind of dedicated page with ALL the bug fixes known to date

Is there an ETA on 3.4?

Dave

This download was created because there is no definitive release date for version 3.4. Some new users will probably move ahead with 3.3 because of this.

This DOES include the members.asp fix (and any other critical bug fix).
