The software will automatically delete langvars, add langvars and report any changes automatically thereafter.

Does this mean that the translators will automatically be informed of updates/changes/... ?

ps. Did you recieve the Dutch language file ?

1) Yes .
2) No .
2) Yes . I mixed 1043 with Dutch (Belgium) (LCID=2067).

It will be nice if you mention LCID AND locale together to prevent me from making mistakes

Bozden,

Am still learning how a whole process is managed...so bear with my basic question here.

does this mean that you will be keeping a central depository of all lang packs (various versions, releases, etc.)? Or will various lang versions resides with Workgroup in parallel and all "final" versions will be kept at your side in a central depository?

Thanks,
leorat

Bozden,

Lang1041.asp rev will be sent to you (graphics stay the same).
A minor fix involves a change of wording for "Click Here to Access" in Admin Option, now set to a proper expression. Hopefully no more too obviously strange expressions remaining in 1041.

This is in utf-8 encoding format file. If you have any problem with this format, please let me know.

OK, this is what I have till now:

1031 (German) - Two versions: Du and Sie
1033 (English-US)
1034 (Spanish-Traditional Sort)
1041 (Japanese) - Two versions of encoding
1043 (Dutch-Netherlands)
1049 (Russian)
1055 (Turkish)
2067 (Dutch-Belgium) [Not complete]

I can understand that some are not fully v4b03patch003 compatible. But I did not check them fully yet (didn't write that module yet).

As far as the software (LangPackManager) goes... It now does the following:

  • Keeps records of all LCID values (135 of them), I put necessary info into them whenever I get the langpacks from you.

  • Keeps records of Snitz versions with necessary info

  • Keeps records of LangPacks for each Snitz version with necessary info

  • Imports LangNNNN.asp files into a detabase table

  • Outputs LangNNNN.asp files in standard format using info from the records mentioned above

  • [*]Compares Lang1033.asp files from two versions outputting the changes into a file (see below)

Next step is to check a LangNNNN.asp file for vX compliance. It will also check for changes from one version to another if the previous version is also in the system. I also plan some technical tests on " and ' signs where some translators easily make mistakes.

I know that we have have problem with encoding, for those LangNNNN files generated by non-unicode enabled browsers. I'll explain the problem and solution later.

This is a sample output of LangPackManager for reporting on version changes:

'==== LANGUAGE FILE CHANGES FROM 4b03_1033 TO 4b03_003_1033
'====== DELETED LANGUAGE VARIABLES ===
strLangPop_Pword00140 = "Close Window"
'=== Total:1
'====== NEW (ADDED) LANGUAGE VARIABLES ===
strLangAdmin_Forums00311 = "Months"
strLangDown00110 = "%s1% the board"
strLangInc_Post_Buttons00130 = "Black"

strLangInc_Post_Buttons00150 = "Yellow"
strLangInc_Post_Buttons00160 = "Pink"
strLangInc_Post_Buttons00170 = "Green"
strLangInc_Post_Buttons00180 = "Orange"
strLangInc_Post_Buttons00190 = "Purple"
strLangInc_Post_Buttons00200 = "Blue"

strLangInc_Post_Buttons00250 = "Maroon"
strLangInc_Post_Buttons00260 = "LimeGreen"
strLangPop_Pword00115 = "There Was A Problem"
strLangPop_Pword00117 = "Either your Username or your Email Address was not valid."
strLangPost00075 = "You do not have access to post to this forum"
'=== Total:19
'====== MODIFIED (CHANGED) LANGUAGE VARIABLES ===
strLangInc_Code00240 = "xxxDELETEDxxx" '"xxxDELETEDxxx"
strLangInc_Code00250 = "xxxDELETEDxxx" '"xxxDELETEDxxx"
strLangPop_Pword00130 = "Go Back To Correct Data" '"Go Back To Enter Data"
'=== Total:3
'====== LANGUAGE FILE COMPARISON COMPLETE ======

Edit: I had to get rid of (xxxDELETEDxxx) two of them above as they messed the output.

Just a question about lang files and backwards compatablity. If old *removed* lang strings are left in the file, then wouldn't all new lang files be compatable with all older versions of snitz international?

If you mean "more compatible", yes. But changed strings will cause problems. Also the file size will grow.

I really think it's ridiculous to have a different version for Belgium and The Netherlands. We speak the same language, and should follow the standards used by all localized software in Dutch. (there is only one dutch version of windows, office, ...)
