Like this: .../forum.asp?FORUM_ID=1
Thanks for all your help here.
I just came back here to ask Podge if there was a reason the Forum.asp file was left out? Would this not be important since the topic.asp file is already included so the forum.asp file would be automatically indexed?

I created the site map. But sorry I dont understand the sence, how it works exactly. I am not so good in English. I read https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/faq.html but I still dont know how it works.
How can I search with Google Sitemaps now?
Sorry, but I really dont uderstand the sence of Google Sitemaps.

This should plug and play into most Snitz forums. Tested on v3.4.05 Not fully finished but it works. Based on the original rssfeed.asp by Richard Kinser (uses getrows so its fast).
Demo here Code here
Save the text file as sitemap.xml.asp and upload to your main forum directory. Submit to Google here - https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/stats
I'm still waiting for Google to validate my sitemap but it validated ok with another validator so it should be ok.
Currently it lists all those topics not in private forums. I will add default.asp, forum.asp, etc. later Should I add members.asp and all of the members pages? e.g. http://forum.snitz.com/forum/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=1049

Podge: I'd just like to say what a very philanthropic and nice guy I think you are helping us out so much. It's really appreciated and you're obviously a very kind and giving person. Thanks again.< |

another way i have found that works ok for me is to download my access database once every few days and back it up. At the same time I run that the new latest database on my local server with the script & then upload it using Podge's method. This doesnt cause any disruption to my sever or load.< |

I think it needs flood control as well. Especially for people with large forums, if a malicious user wanted to they could just keep refreshing the page which may have undesired effects e.g. max out the cpu, bandwidth, etc...
I suppose that one line of defense to prevent a malicious user would be to NOT call the file sitemap.xml.asp but some other name so it would be difficult to find.
Are there any flaws with that idea?< |

Works a charm - thanks a million.
quote: Should I include a second set of forums with an ARCHIVE=true querystring for those forums with archives? and is there an easy way to check if a forum has archives?
My forums are still young and I haven't investigated how archiving works yet. A quick off topic quesiton: Are archived posts moved to another table to keep the main forum/topic table lean and small? Back on topic: Yes I think that I would like to see an option where I could include all the archived and current topics in the sitemap - thanks Podge.< |

Use the F_A_TOPICS and F_A_COUNT fields in the FORUM table.quote: Originally posted by wildfiction quick off topic quesiton: Are archived posts moved to another table to keep the main forum/topic table lean and small?
Yes, A_TOPICS AND A_REPLY

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

quote: I was under the impression that search engines penalized you for duplicate content on your site so I thought that the printer friendly pages might be considered duplicate content?
So was I but its obviously not the case. Search through Google (click here) and you will find millions of vBulletin* printer friendly pages. As if that isn't bad enough look at this. Google indexes each individual post - 29,500,000 results. That means that each post is indexed at least three times.
What is the point of the "View Single Post" feature? What I mean is, isn't the context of the conversation lost without the rest of the thread?
