Hi,

I'm the new Ring Of Honor (ROH) webguy and due to this we're changing servers.

My question is can we move it from one server to another or do we need to upgrade the board to a newer version so we can move the database without losing all our members and posts?

Thanks,
Joel

There is no need to upgrade. The database can be moved, the details depend on the database you are using.

You can't see it like this.

Open the MessageBoard folder under the root directory of the website (FTP) and open the config.asp file

check what, in the connection part, is the line that is not commented and you will know everything about the Database, Connection, User and Password

Seems a little long winded, surely he only needs to log into admin options and server information, this will also show him which database he is using, the username and password is all in there, under the database connection properties.

That means you are using MySQL. You will need to export your database as a script, that then can be used to import it to a new database with your new provider (you should check whether they support MySQL, which most likely they do, but always better to play safe).
