                      | No. 10.4 Tiger works very well and there are too many complaints about Leopard. Personally, it has nothing to offer that I really need, thus there is no incentive.

                      | I'm pretty sure that if you read the licence you can only install it on an Apple branded computer, ie you CAN'T legally install it on your PC at all.
to even try requires a patched DVD

                      | I gather Apple only support a few hardware profiles (unlike Windows who'll take all comers), and you may well find their own-brand hardware is all they support/legally allow you to install on. |

                      | 2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions. A. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time

                      | which makes you wonder how they manage to get away without being fined, since if Microsoft made such a restriction you can bet your bottom dollar that the EU would fine them millions of dollars for anti-competative behaviour |

Marketshare, my friend. It's all about the marketshare. Just wait until they finally get a stranglehold on the market somewhere and see what the EU has to say to them. They've already gotten flack over iTunes, and I think you'll see more.

                      | yes, that's my point, but it shouldn't be, anti-competitive is anti-competitive it does not relate to market share in any way.
However, the iTunes issue was about unfair pricing across europe, it was not about anti-competitive behaviour

                      | Now that Apple's really pushing Safari for Windows via iTunes, I wonder if there will be a big stink about Apple leveraging their market share... |

                      | I do actually have a Mac Mini, so have actually played with Leopard, it looks swish, and makes a really good media box, but Windows runs much better on the mini mac than leopard does
my brother has some 3d renderring software which has both mac and windows versions, the win version manages to render the same scene about 15% faster than Leopard.

                      | I hope so I tried safari for windows, I wouldn't bother with it it was really bloody slow and basically crud, it is even crap on the Mac, most Mac users don't even use it.

                      | Tiger is installed on my MacPro (with the intel processor). I don't think the Mac OS could be installed on a typical PC for Windows.

The Mac store sales pro was telling me that their new laptops were getting really trick. . .you could use three fingers on the finger pad and twist objects in 3D.
(Not my cup of tea though. . .)

                      | I'll second that. I usually compromise and just disable the tap-to-click bit since there's no control stick (or whatever you want to call the little eraser nub that I loved on my ancient Compaq). |
