When an existing topic grows really big, I would like to convert it toa forum. Is there a mod to do so?

how would you envisage that working ? a forum is just a box for containing topics/replies the two are not compatible, you can't convert a topic into a forum

I have topic with more than 40 pages ...

what you can do is, place a MOD (don't remember where it is) that gives the user the opportunity to see XX messages per page, instead the default ones.
