Does anyone else subscribe to their board/posts and use gmail? The conversation view used to work really well - each reply to a given topic was in the same conversation. But a month or two ago, this stopped working and it's a complete mess. Whereas a popular topic would only take up one "slot" now I'm back to having a separate email for each reply.

Anyone else experience this?

I haven't done this but it would probably only take a minor change to the way email is sent in the subscriptions portion of post_info.asp

Add something unique to the Subject of the subscription email e.g. the topic id or the topic subject.
Something like this

Subject: Topic ID 1234 - Reply to a posting
Subject: Reply to a posting - Subscriptions and Gmail

Yes, the subjects already have the topic/reply name (I tweaked long before I started using gmail).

I'm not sure how Gmail determines consistent conversations. I should examine the headers more closely and see why they aren't being "joined"

I wonder if its because there isn't a "RE:" in the subsequent e-mails... just a thought.

It's worth a try. Maybe my filter is causing the problem. I test that as well.

Any other gmail users coming across this issue? I tried adding "Re:" to the subject of my subscription emails but that didn't help....

are there any categories on snitz I can subscribe to besides the security patch one?

Last I checked, the Security Updates forum is the only one. There is an RSS feed though - its what I've been using lately and I've come to like it better than bogging down my Inbox.

Sorry, forgot to post the URL... Fx2 and IE7 both automatically pick it up.

For those wanting to include the same in their inc_header.asp this is the html you need
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" href="http://www.domain.com/forum/rssfeed.asp" title="Active Topics on My Forums 2008">
Its also in the source of this page.

You might also want to install the MOD... unless there's something I missed in the last release.

It would be an easy add, and something worth adding to 3.4.07 though...

Unless I missed something there is no rssfeed.asp in the default install... I could be wrong though.

Sorry, I thought you meant the <link rel.

Richards rssfeed.asp - http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=46136#259197
Marcels rss.asp - http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=56247&SearchTerms=rssfeed

Richards may not be still available though I'm sure he will provide it if he's asked nicely.

I looked into the RSS mods a while back. Do either of them include the body of the post in the feed item?

Nope, but it wouldn't be too hard to include the original post in the thread. Why do you want to do this? Using either rss feed they will get the subject of the thread and just need to click once to get the whole thread (usually).
