Hi, all.
I got phone call from my friend this morning.
He was almost crying since his hosting company disapeared.
I cannot access his web site and contact the company at all.
All of sudden his internet business browed up.
He didn't have all proper backup.

It could happen to me.
I also hosting my web site.

I'm thinking backup my web site.

But, here my question come up.

HOW CAN I BACK UP MY WEB SITE properly?

I have all source code but, what about database?
I'm using my sql.

Constantly user comes to my site and updates database.
If I running my server at home, I can do whatever I do for restore plan.
But, it's hosting which has limited access.

Does anyone has this expereince and knowledge?

Please reply, any comment will help!!

Thank you all.

How to back up depends on the database and whatever other external stuff you may be using on the web server. For SQL 2000 I use DTS to schedule an automatic copy to a local backup sql server. My hosting company performs backups, but as you've discovered if they just up and close that does you no good.

Access you can simply copy any .mdb files to your local computer.

Mysql you can use MySQL Administrator to backup

Other DB's will have some mechanism also.
