 Silly Laptop Keyboard problem

I have HP dv2000 model laptop.

Now, I have attached external keyboard to it and use it.

Now, when I am using external keyboard all ok and perfetc,.

But when I use laptop keyboard, and when i type

U .. it types 6
I .. it types 7
O .. it types 8

It just happening with few letters...

Any suggestions ?

Sure it's not 4 5 and 6? Or are you running a different style of keyboard?

Based on this image, it looks as if those might be coming on because the function key is pressed/stuck.

Just a guess...

I would guess on Dave's second guess of the function key. We use those exact laptops here at my work.

Often times that's the problem with the laptops here at the hospital.... (if I get one more call... )

My Dell laptop has a function sequence you can use to turn keys in the vicinity of the keys you listed into a pseudo numeric keyboard. Probably for accountants & such. You use a different function sequence to put the keyboard back to normal. Check the documentation for your particular laptop, my Dell actually has the alternate numbers printed on the keycaps.
