Getting a bit sick of AWSats so I'm on the look out for a new package. Don't really know one package from the other though so do you guys have any recommendations? Obviously free is always the preferred option but, given the hassle we've had with AWStats, we'll pay for something, if we have to - something reasonable that's licensed for multiple domains. All I want to have to do is drop it into the root directory of each domain, point it to the relevant log files and let it run itself from there.

Yeah, got them on a couple of sites (although, I ain't reached that section of our marketing course, yet, so I've probably got it setup arseways!). Need something our punters can access through their sites, though, to keep their marketing types happy.

Liking the look of that, Huw, very stylish & comprehensive and looks like it's a piece of proverbial to get up & running. The bossman might balk at the pricing of it, but I'll try and push him.
One thing I'm trying to figure out flicking through there documentation is, if I create the initial virtual directory at domain.tld/stats, for example, will someone wishing to view the stats for domain2.tld have to go to that address or can I also have domain2.tld/stats? If not, it's no great shakes to just redirect from domain2.tld/stats; just wondering is all.

Looking like I can't do it the way I want. Not a problem, though; like I said, I can just redirect
Think I'll wait until bossman is in Friday mode before making a pitch to him Moving offices in a month so he's trying to keep expenditure to a minimum at the moment.

dont know if its quite what u want but it served me good
I'm using it on a couple of projects where I don't have access to the server logs, and in some ways its better than some of the stat packages I've worked with, and in some ways its not as good - it really depends on what you want to track.
Its in need of some updating though... it doesn't properly ID Fx or Win XP or Vista. I keep planning on making some updates and adding some forum-specific hooks but I never seem to get around to working on it. |

ASPStats was easy to set up, free, and asp code provided for mods. Not very robust, but suits the needs of one client.

Thanks for al the recommendations, guys, Huw's suggestion is still looking the best, though, as it works exactly the way we need it to and then some. Got a few more recommendations at my marketing course yesterday (Webtrends, Clicktrax & Omniture), which I'm going to look into this morning.quote: Originally posted by Podge How many domains do you need to be able to support ? Approximately 20 sites, with more on the way, all on the same W2K3 server using W3C Extended Log Format.

Just downloaded the free version of SmarterStats and set it up as a virtual directory in IIS by following the instructions here but when I crank up my browser and point it to the virtual directory (Link), I'm getting a .NET error about the Web.config file. I've followed the instructions in the error for turning off custom errors but it still won't tell me exactly what's wrong Anybody got any insights? Can't find anything relevant in their knowledge base or forums.
