I have a community type question:

If I implement these forums, will I have a way of restricting users to a specific section(s)?

For Instance I have USA of which all users belong, then I have GA, FL, CA and NY. Only those residents who live in those states can participate in those forums.

Then lets say I go a level deeper and say that only those residents of Miami can participate in the Miami forum and those from Tampa can only participate in the Tampa forums. Miami and Tampa users can not participate in the LA forum or in the Atlanta Forums because they Don't live in LA or Atlanta and likewise they can't participate in the GA or CA forums because they live in FL. However they can participate in the USA forum because they all live in the USA.

Going a level deeper, I have two suburbs of Atlanta (Roswell and Dunwoody) and I those residents to be able to participate in their respective areas forums and the forms one level up. So Roswell residents can participate in Roswell, Atlanta, GA and USA but not in Dunwoody or any other cities or states.

And finally... I want to provide club level access so that Club A has their own private forums and club B has theirs. Club A members can also participate in Roswell, Atlanta, GA and USA forums.

As in this example:
USA->GA->Atlanta->Roswell->Club A
USA->GA->Atlanta->Roswell->Club B
UAA->GA->Atlanta->Dunwoody->Club A
USA->FL->Miami->etc.
USA->FL->Tampa->etc
USA->CA->San Fran->etc.
USA->NY->New York City->Manhatten->etc
USA->NY->New York City->Brooklyn->etc

Can you do that with these forums? And if so how? If I need to modify something, where do I need to start?

Thanks,

Phil

There is a mod to make 1 level of sub forums. The restricting access wouldn't be to hard you would want to install the "usergroups mod" Then you could create all your groups and access to whatever forums you want. Including just letting those groups only see their forums if you wish

The problem I think you will run into is putting the 4 level deep sub forums. But maybe someone else knows a way to accomplish this.

But the access to allow them to only participate would be fairly simple using the above mentioned mod.

Hope this helps

Which mod would that be (DL instructions/location?) that would allow me to make one level of sub forums?

I may be able to live with that or (modify the mod)... I need to get this portion up and running ASAP.

Thanks for your help Jeff
