Hello

I'm not a technical minded person and i feel a fool for asking this question as it seems so many more people have not fallen at the first hurdle unlike myself.

After altering the config.asp and uploading my files i am now prompted to enter my username and password i entered during setup. Problem is I did not do a setup.

After the forum is installed you can log in as the administrator with the username and password you supplied at setup. Then you will need to click on the "Admin Options" link at the top right of the page. Then log in again to the Admin Section using the same admin username and password.

Also, as i have a ftp problem and i uploaded the necassary files as a zip which was then extracted to the folder perhaps the chmods are not correct as entering the .asp file results in the file being displayed on screen in its original text format.

Some help please

if the asp file is being displayed as text, your hosting service probably does not support ASP

Are you sure that you are on a windows server? You usually chmod on *nix. If an .asp page shows as text then your host probably doesn't support it and you would have to find an alternative. Your homepage supports php, there are planty of php boards out there.
