This topic is for feedback about the MOD README template.
The template can be downloaded here:
http://www.turnandburn.com/mods/mods.asp

Please take a close look at the template and post your comments in this thread.

Thanks!

I think the template is very complete... My questions is really whether all mod authors will complete it?!

I think this template is perfect personally. I am not sure any changes that need to be made personally. Very easy to follow and use. I think this would be perfect for the Mod Update Team to use when updating mods

Wow, nice work on the template. I would never have put together such a nice readme myself, but I am sure to use this template.

I should point out that there would have to be an instruction sheet for the template. There are features(?) and advisories to be explained.

For example: A "Find/Replace" for MODname should result in the new MOD's name being updated throughout the code.

For example: All 'bookmarks' within the template point to readmeTemplate.htm. That will NOT be the actual name for this file, so a Find/Replace must be done to substitute readme.htm for readmeTemplate.htm.

Another example: I use "XX" (no quotes) as placeholders. Searching for XX should lead the MOD Developer to *most* required edits.

There are other examples. I will put a list together later... it has been a long(!) week.

Ciao

I just came across this while trying to see if there was a better way for me to write my readme files for MODs. However, the link is broken. Did anyone happen to download the file or have a mirror?

muzishun...

I broke the link to the README template and removed the database-driven MOD site. There didn't seem to be any interest in the template or the MOD database other than initial curiosity.

I do not check the forum as I used to. So if JJ can't find it, *email* me.

Sorry haven't had a chance to find it as of yet my apologies. gary_b I am sure there will be interest as with the mod team. I haven't pushed it mainly cause I am looking into purchasing a business as well as doing 3 huge web projects. Plus working my real job But these things one way or another will be done and I will start to focus on this again.

Not throwing stones, JJ... Your schedule sounds worse than mine!!

<feeling sorry for JJ...>

Anon sent me an email. I will be forwarding the template to him. I believe he may add the template to SnitzBitz... or somewhere.

I know your not casting stones but I am sure there is lots of interest just need a bit of time to get them off the ground running

Snitz Bitz sounds like a great place for it. Also maybe instead of focusing on the classic .asp version maybe we should focus on the .net verion to get that as great with all the mods?? Not sure but just a thought I had. I am starting to learn .net and would love to kind of just start fresh with some of the mods.

Hope all is well on your end though Gary it had been a while
