I have set up subscriptions on my forum and have subscribed to the board. When I make a post, I never get an email.
I have my outgoing email smtp set in the Email server box. I also have my email address set up on my profile page.
What else could it be? |

Have you turned on emails within the admin option of snitz?

He wouldn't have been able to set up subscriptions in the first place without that, Jeff.
John, you will not receive notifications of your own posts; try creating a test account and making a few posts with that.
Be careful when allowing people to subscribe to the entire forum - if your forum gets any way busy, the subscription mails cuold easily cripple your mail server.

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

Turning the whole board on should be a problem for me. We are using for an internal use in the company with only about 100 members. Thanks for the advise. I'll try test posting. |

Nope, it didn't work. I went to my partners desk and logged in as him, made a post, and nothing in my email. I checked his email also and he hasn't been getting emails about my test posts either. Both of us are subscribers to the testing forum and both have made posts.
Any other ideas? |

Most companies have to allow relaying of mail. If this is setup the way like the last company and the current compay I work for was setup, then the server you are sending from has to be allowed by the the e-mail server.quote: Originally posted by jringo

Given that the site is on an internal network by the sounds of it, check with your e-mail administrator and make sure that the server that you are sending from (have the forum installed on) is allowed to relay the SMTP.. |

CMC has an excellent point here - SMTPRelay and SMTPHOST are increasingly locked down, sometimes even requiring individual (personal) domain account credentials to relay, which IUSR certainly won't have by default |

No the other email functions are not working. I went to one of the regisetered members pages and linked on the email link and he never got it, plus when you click on the "Forgot password" link, it never sends me an email.
I will check to see if the server will allow the SMTP to be relayed on Monday, thanks. |

Yep, your IT department will know, or at least should help you find out someone who should know!
I have to be honest, if they've locked the SMTPRelay/SMTPHost by policy, you may have problems getting an exception to work |

If they have locked it, can you think of anyway around it? |

unlikely - you may be able to relay via an external SMTP Relaying company/box, but it would depend on your firewall position - you should discuss it with your IT department, they may have some ideas as there's about a billion and one permutations of setups I couldn't even guess at them all, whereas they should know and be able to let you know if there are options

When I say it is not working in any capacity, I would like to clarify.
When I send an email to a member from their member page, it seems to go (no errors) but it never arrives.
When I hit the forgot password link on the login page, seems to work (no errors) but I never get an email.
I have subscribed to the entire board, but neither I nor the other subscribed members ever get notified of any new posts.
Any ideas? |

Ok, I fixed that. the problem was I had it set for CDONTS and it needed to be CDOSYS. Thanks for all your help on my problem.
Next question, does the subscription just work on NEW posts or does it work on replys also? It doesn't seem to work on the replys. Can I flip a switch and make it do that? |
