i am a brinkster user,i uploaded all files to site under forum folder and put the mdb in the db folder ,i used notepad to modify the config.asp and i removed the ' in front of access and i removed ' in front of ((strConnString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & Server.MapPath("/ceng2005/db/snitz_forums_2000.mdb") '## MS Access 2000 on Brinkster)).But when i opened the setup page i get this error message.I will be happy if anybody help me to get rid of this problem.Thnks everyone...

There has been an error !!

The database could not be opened !!
Check your config.asp file and set the
strConnString so it points to the database.
Also check if strDBType is set to the right databasetype.

Code : 80004005

Error Description :
'C:\Sites\content\ceng2005\db\snitz_forums_2000.mdb' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.

Right db name and everything? Can you see the db through the control panel OK?

A big plus with brinkster is their live 24h technical support via messenger - ask them to confirm the db is in the right folder, and that the mappath is resolving alright.

Likely reason: there is some mistake with that DB path. It's either that or a permissions issue, but I would incline myself for the 1st...

No harm in asking brinkster tech support -
https://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/50387788/?cmd=file&file=visitorWantsToChat&site=50387788&byhref=1&imageUrl=https://www.brinkster.com/images/livechat
free, and they know their brinkster well

My bet is it's a path thing too, permissions would give you a different error, I imagine

This is the page you get redirected to: http://ceng2005.brinkster.net/c/e/n/ceng2005/forum/default.asp

I guess this results from the way your URL is mapped by Brinkster. As you can see here it's a thing common with Brinkster, and it's quite hard to get around it... Maybe ask Brinkster for help on the issue.

You can also check whether the Referer Mod helps, but I can't guarantee it will.

It's not a coding mistake. This code works very well on thousands of servers and it even used to run on Brinkster's too... If it does not run now, you should draw your own conclusions...

Try adding the Referer mod in the link I posted above. As I told you, I can't be sure that you will have success executing it.
