Running Current version snitz 3.4.05
W2K3
ISP - Gothamweb.com

The help/features on the website says
Restricted/Open Registration
When the Restrict Registration feature is turned on, the Administrator of the forums can approve or deny registration of new members.

I do not have restrict I have Require Registration and when I click the ? it says

Require Registration?
When this option in set to On, only registered members who are logged in will be able to view your Forum. Everyone else will be presented with a login screen.

I want new users to be able to register and just start posting. Now they must wait until I see that they registered and activate them.

I also get no email that they have done so. How will I know when new members are waiting?

Thank you

Doug

The options you are looking for are available at the Email Server Configuration panel, Admin Options.

I have that set to off. Yet I must manually "Activate" each member? Or I should say that I find member <2> in the Members Pending list.

Restrict Registration: Off:

Also how do I get the moderators to be emailed when new messages arrive?

You also need email validation set to Off.

I thought you wanted users to register and begin posting. There is no notification to be sent to mods, in such a scenario.

I understand what you are saying I need to do but

If I turn off email validation then they can use a bunk email address, no? I had believed that email validation was an automatic process that occured.

I assumed (incorrectly) the board sends the user an email and they click a link and they are activated. That would not require any admin interaction and would make sure that every user's email was valid.

You assume correctly, if you require registration and email is turned on, they get an email with a key that must be clicked.

By default there is no notification of pending members; you must go into Admin Options and look.

Moderators, like everyone else, can get email notifications of new postings by subscribing. Don't post a question about how to set up subscriptions until you've done some searches here; it's all been covered.

Well if email validation is On, they you will have pending members. A member will be pending until its email is validated. With email validation a new user won't just start posting after the registration, they will need to validate the email address.

Well then the moral of the story is I am NOT required to activate that member. They can do it themselves by responding to the email, correct?

That is good. I am fine then. I have no issue with the email being validated, I thought I had to activate their account and that seemed screwy.

The email registration was not working. I followed the links on your site that explain how it should be set and when I changed it to the methods suggested it started working. Seems odd (to me) that you need to enter it in a certain order but that does not mean I am saying their is anything wrong. I am sure you have a reson for the method.

O just need that enhanced Profile now that I asked in another post and it will be PERFECT!!!

THANKS for a GREAT product and great support!!!

What problem are you having? Those are the right settings for what you wrote you want.

First of all my apologies for posting my problem at two different places.

My new forum members are directly able to post without going through Authentication process.I want then to post only after the administrator apporves it.

Please advise what kind of configeration setup is required.

Thanks

There is another setting on that same page called "E-Mail Mode" - if it is set to "On" then certain e-mail related functions will work (Like validate e-mail, restrict registration, e-mail poster, etc.) If it is set to "Off" then certain functions will not work no matter what they are set to.
