I am moving my site to a new host, and I have copied all the forum files over, and have also copied all of the MySQL tables to the new host and changed the connection string in config.asp. Is there anything else I need to do to make sure I have a smooth transition? Any problems I should expect?

Thanks in advance...

Test it on the new server to make sure there are no problems before you move.
Keep a backup (sql dump) of the database just in case. Did you use setup.asp to create the tables on the new database?

I don't use MySql myself that often. The database may have been created correctly. All I'm saying is keep a backup and check thats its running ok before you move.

The way you copied the tables is important. Did you use a script to export and then import or a MySQL tool?

I used MySQL Maestro and duplicated the tables and data.

Should be no problem then, even though I don't know Maestro.

Can this be done using the servers database management interface to export the original database to hd then import the database to the new server?

I am computer dummy and need some step by step help here.

I, still a complete novice, was able to copy the mysql database from one host to a new one without any help using Maestro. It took a little experimenting, but Maestro is fairly intuitive.
Thank you to whoever recommended Maestro.

There was one problem in that the new server had MySql 4.1 installed and Snitz, along with a couple of mods wouldn't run.
If you have that problem, check:

Get SQLYog. Once you do, connect to both databases and use the option to Copy the Database to Different DB / Host. It's that simple.
