Well guys, we launched this forum on Friday and we've had numeorus folks with several problems. Some even going straight to the forum outside of frames on our server. Most of the problems stem from registration and editing one's profile.

I've been searching and searching with no clear fix or indication of why these issues are happening. I've considered firewalls and Norton Internet Security, we've added the line of code suggested and that seemed to work for some, if not most, but still not all.

This is an extremely popular forum and now it's released with almost 200 users already, so we really need to get these issues addressed. The majority of folks here are fisherman and hunters so the majority of them are not very tech savvy, but we're not talking about rocket science here, so it really needs to be idiot proof, which I thought it was. Register, login and post, right? LOL... For most, but still not all...

I've talked with a few folks and they just can't get registered, they accept the Terms/privacy statement and it goes no where, once they do get registered, usually one of the forum admin's has to manually register them, then they have issues with editing their profile. I don't get it...

I have talked to one person who seems to be pretty savvy, and he's running:
OS is WinXP SP2
Version of FireFox is 1.5
Version of IE6.0 is 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519

He's tried accepting all cookies, no firewall, IE's security on it's lowest setting pretty much wide open. To no avail... He's even tried going to the snitz link directly on our server and still can't get around as he should be able to.

We host probably 500 or more Snitz forums across our network and I've talked to a few of our clients who use Snitz, who've never had these problems, hence the use of Snitz for this application.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanx!
Pat

Also, when a new user registers, it sends a link and the link has to contain "/" at the end, well, when adding the /, we get a page not found, is there anyway to eliminate the need for the /? When we remove that, it goes to the correct page, but not with the slash...

Any thoughts?
Pat

The solution was given here. You just need to implement it.

Also post an example link, so that we can know what is happening.

Thanx for the quick response.. Are you referring to a compact privacy policy as the solution given? If so, we're working on implementing that, but like I said, it's a friend's site and I don't have all of the details necessary for a quick implementation. If it's something else, please advise.

As for links, it's sort of strange as it's only happening with a handful of folks and getting details is like pulling teeth as most of them don't know the answers to my/our questions.

But in a nutshell, some people have issues trying to register and some issues trying to edit their profile, when they click to edit, nothing happens, nothing loads. Same with registration, they can't get past accepting the terms.

Also, how can I get around using the / at the end of the forum URL?

Thanx again!

Yes, that is what I meant.

Why is this the link? That's not a Snitz link. You should insert your forum URL and Snitz handles it from there...

Well, the forum has to be served in frames, due to policy and advertising commitments. So it has to be in frames as the main site is hosted off of our network and the forum is on our network.

I can try it, and certainly will...

Thanx!

Well I have no knowledge about frames, but that is definitely your problem. That's what's causing the error.

I seem to remember some threads popping up occasionally about issues related to putting the forum into frames. Have you tried searching the forums for frames?

Yes, I have, and it doesn't yield much, I think I've found all of the approriate threads, but still no avail.

I guess we'll need to look into the CPP, but I've never done one, so I'll need to read on it a bit. Unless there's some clear directions somewhere. I d/l the IBM P3P, so that's a start I suppose...

Thanx again!

Just apply what was recommended by HelterSkelter in his post above. He wrote the code to add to config.asp, that's all thats needed.

I've already done that, but there are still numerous folks with issues similar to what that should fix. We implemented that on Friday and once it was tested, the forum was released and then we've had a lot of folks with issues. Registration and editing their profiles are the most common issues.

Thanx again!

Registration issues may be due to firewall use by the users. Search for the Referer Mod to verify whether it can fix the registration issue.

Ok, I got one positive response to the registration problem, just need to work on the editing profile issue. I'll look around some more.

Thanx again!

if your still getting the problem perhaps it's coz the third party cookie fix in not the frame file?

As i have never worked in frams i dont know that would cause the problem.
Try adding it, if not then try in both files.

After that i cant think of what else to do.

How ever it looks like your getting closer.
Let us know if u done and what u had to do to fix.

Helter
