Thanks in advance for your help.

We are running the current version and wanted to setup a forum that people could post into without having to be logged in.

The rest of the forums require users to be logged in, and we want to keep it that way.

If you know of another way, your suggestions are apprecaited.

The end result of what we are doing is to allow people to post in this one particular forum anonymously. We don't want to setup a user account for this purpose because people will forget that they are logged in using that account and use it in other forums.

So, how can we allow anonymous posts in a single forum?

Thank you.

Add the Anonymous Poster Mod (something to that effect), add the user groups mod, and then combine the two to only allow the anonymous user to read everything but only post in the one forum

Thanks.

I figured out another way right after I posted. I created a user account called ANONYMOUS. Users simply logout of their account, go to the forum and post. They are given a username/password field during their post. This allows them to post, but does not log them into the site. Once their post is made, they simply login again.

Thanks for your tip on the MOD though.

Anonymous Posting Mod is available here.

I would like to setup my forum so users can post messages without having to login - please tell me how I can do this. The link for the Anonymous Poster Mod is a dead end. Thanks in advance...

Looks like SnitzBits is having some problems. Do a quick search around here, or maybe someone has it and can put it somewhere you can download it.

I might have it somewhere floating around my file server, but I don't make any garunties.... (still haven't gotten to cleaning the thing out)

The link to the MOD now works but I don't think this MOD will work with 3.4.05 - is there a MOD for the latest version of Snitz?

It's safer if you do what cmerwitzer suggests and create a guest account with guest as username and password. If someone wants to post something all they need to do is login with that. They only need to do that once and that's it.
It's safer because at any time you can lock that account otherwise you will be open to all sorts of abuse.

How about forcing a login, but allowing that member to then post a message anonymously, maybe with a "post as anonymous" checkbox somewhere on the message entry screen?
