Yup. You heard it right here. The Opera browser is having thier 10th anniversary today and to celebrate, they are giving away registrations codes for thier browser, for free.

If you never tried the opera browser before because you didn't want ot pay for it, you can get your copy today.

Free registration: http://my.opera.com/community/party/reg.dml
Opera party: http://my.opera.com/community/party/
Opera site: http://www.opera.com

Thier site is slow because I am sure it is getting hit by the thousands.
So if you can make it, good luck.

Ah, yes, that old trick: "You can have free stuff ... if you can access our website to get it!"

*toddles off to remove the advertising from his browser nonetheless * Thanks, Davio.

You're welcome. Never really liked the opera browser because of the ads. Now that I can use it without the ads, I'll try it again.

Ditto!

Their site's actually loading up speedily enough, all things considered, just downloading 8.02 now.

<edit> Oops! Spoke too soon, the whole things just gone down! </edit>

Woo hoo! Time to go grab a code! I've used Opera for some time to test my web designs (and as an IE replacement 'till I learned about FireFox...).

Thanks for the heads up.

Hmm ... Still a bit to much real estate taken up by the toobars and tabbar, I like my toolbars to take up as little space as possible so's the maximum amount of screen space is given to what I'm actually looking at. Hopefully it's not too difficult to tweak the settings and cure that.

BTW, the free reg code site is really easy to acess now. No ads might be enough to tip my scale over to Opera from Firefox... might.

Yup. But spending a few minutes with Opera, I find things I'm disappointed with it already.
Glad I didn't buy it.

May I inquire as to what you don't like about it.

BTW, is IE7 beta public, or just MSDN subscribers, or just internal?

Looks like just MSDN subscribers - "If you are a Web or software developer and want to test Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1, you can access it via your MSDN subscription, or if you don’t have an MSDN subscription you can join MSDN now."

I can wait.

Beta 2 is in the pipes - there are some enhancements coming along too.

This is traditional, BTW - Beta 1 is usually by invitation only as it is very Beta, Beta 2 gets a wider audience.
