Hi guys, I added a mod for some more smilies which included replacing the following files:

faq.asp
inc.func_posting.asp
inc.func_common.asp
inc_iconfiles.asp
inc_smilies.asp

after doing this I noticed the paperclip icon disappeared for the image attachment mod. So I then tried uploading the original snitz files starting with inc.func_common.asp and received this error message when trying to access my forum

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'ActiveUserTracker'

/forum/inc_header.asp, line 233

how can I sort this out? Or any volunteers to do it for me?!?

Never, ever, ever use the files included in a mod to overwrite your existing files! Those files are for reference purposes only to show you how the code should look after you've modified it.

What you've done by overwriting your existing files is overwritten all changes you made for the Active Users and Attachment mods. You'll need to go back through the readmes of those mods and reapply the changes to those files you overwrote.

Alternatively, if you took backups of your files before overwriting them (something which is always recommended before starting work on a new mod), you can restore them and then use the Smile Manager mod's readme to make the necessary changes.

I made a folder to use as a backup of the forum files, but it was empty! I obviously had not put anything in it. Chris (laser) did most of my Mods for me, so I dont think I have the image upload mod he used. So Would I be ok to uploaded all of the affected forum files and start adding the original Mods I used again? Once completing this would the forum be how it was, what I'm trying to say is will I lose any info/posts etc of my forum by doing this?

Thanks for your help

Dom

You won't lose any information from your database. What I'd recommend doing in this case is reapplying the AU and Attachments Mods to the files you uploaded from the Smilies zip. Obviously you'll need to find out from Laser what Attachment mod he used, he may even have a copy of the files he modded for you backed up somewhere which you could get from him meaning you'd only have to apply the Smilies mod. Whatever you do, just make sure you take backups this time!

OK, thanks for the help shaggy, do you think I'll have to apply the private messages mod again too?

Yes, as that includes changes for inc_iconfiles.asp. Basically, any mods you have installed which required changes to those files you overwrote, will need to be reapplied to those files only. E.G., the PM Mod requires changes to topic.asp which you will not have to make again as you did not overwrite that file.
