I wouldn't call that portable a PDA or a Flybook are what I would call portable, laptops I would consider to be luggable, when you've trapsed half way round the world with it you'll know what I mean |

Well, I think that my QTEK8020 can be considered a portable Windows Mobile 2003, the whole charade.
Okay, I've also got a HP Compaq NC 8000 (Pentium M 1.5 Ghz, not as 'heavy specced' as yours, but still a nifty device!), but that's from my work.
And HuwR ; the definition of portable is flexible ... This for instance ís portable...hehe Oh, and don't forget the IBM Portable Personal Computer, weighing about 30 pounds.... |

Oh, I agree - the Inspiron is quite heavy, but I don´t travel much with - I should call it a desktop replacement. |

The thing I like about the flybook is that it takes my sim card so I don't have to take my phone, just the flybook. I also have a laptop, but it is just too bulky to carry around for everyday use and gets far to hot to put on your lap, it has a full blown 2.4GHz P4 and radeon 9600 graphics not the cut down mobile versions. |

2.4GHz P4 gets very hot on portables, Centrino is the best choice for portable PCs - everyone I talked to agree with me on this, a 1.73GHZ Centrino performs more or less like a 2.8GHZ - so they say...I do feel it´s as fast as the 2.4GHZ desktop PC I have at work. |

Yes but can it run Snitz 2000?
Well, I can use Explorer to browse to any site. No problem there. (Flash and shockwave is a bit of a problem, but that's all) A bit pricy on the bandwidth (GRPS) though, but still, it's a real mobile PC. I'm not sure if there's an IIS version for WM2003... |

you can use pocket IE which is nothing like normal IE, it only supports html 3.2 and has very limited javascript support, so although you can connect to Snitz and see a minute portion of the page it does not all work, the same as most sites on the net, pocket IE is a very poor excuse for a web browser. |

None of the benchmarks I've seen would suuport that statement,a 2.8Ghz P4 will out perform a centrino every time, just gets a lot hotter. |

Well, it does the job for me very good! Even www.gmail.com works as a charm! And CSS is supported! (And, in fact the 'real' IE is a poor excuse for a web browser, but that's a different discussion. But, there's allways www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=202793" target="_blank">Minimo; Mozilla for the Smartphone! |

Minimo is not yet out for pocketPC only palm, and if the "real" IE is a poor excuse, what does that make pocket IE? which has 10% of it's functionality at the most. |
