Big yay to Eurovision - one of the most consistently funny shows on TV. If you're in a country that takes it in any way seriously, good luck!
Eire didn't make it through to the final, which is probably a blessing after winning it so many times it nearly bankrupted their national broadcaster to host it each year (the winner gets the privelege of hosting it the next year) |

When I hear about it I can't help thinking they kinda stopped in time. I remember from my years as a young kid this was touted as a big event, one of the musts back then! |

Not like we made an effort, really - now, if only the radio stations would stop playing the poxy song. And you can call us Ireland, by the way!

I was brought up on a diet of Eurovision in Ireland and they actually show it here in Australia ... but try and get my Australian (actually Burmese) partner interested when American idol is on at the same time! Wish Terry Wogan hosted the World Cup. |

The only blessing I saw this year is in the fact that the Croatian song wasn't in English. The lyrics are sooo bad it is embarasing. |

Saw someone dancing on a table waving a Greek flag out of the corner of me eye on the news yesterday so I think Greece might've won it.

I'll second that. I wonder why so many people in other countries watch it though... they can't seriously find the singing entertaining surely?! |

it's for all the political infighting...the results show all 'New' Europe voting for each other, and all 'Old' Europe right down at the bottom.
Something in the papers this morning about how this may actually swing the Netherlands European Consitution vote...! |

As an American who was visiting Italy last week, I enjoyed watching the Eurovision show. Got a kick out of some of the acts that I saw. Some good, some just plain humorous. No offense meant to anyone.
Couldn't believe how long the program lasted. I saw the opening, saw 2 acts, went to dinner, walked all over Venice, came back to the hotel for more than an hour left of the show. The audience sure had patience watching the hour long judging process.
The hosts were hilarious. |
