I have moved Snitz to a new server, so could some of you recheck to see if it made any difference |

Huge difference.. They are now at sub-zero (no relation to the batman movie either ) times in the profiles. Great stuff. So can you tell us what it was that caused the slowness for future reference?

just wish I could figure out why the other server suddenly started behaving oddly, it is under no apperent strain that I can see, and has bags of ram etc, but snitz was not the only site to be behaving this way, my own forum http://www.magicmushroom.org.uk is behaving even worse, every page is taking 50 secs plus to render, and it doesn't even have any current posts, I am totally baffled. |

Ouch, I just clicked on the link you provided and it took over 90 sec to load. That's so weird!
Are you running your own servers, or are they hosted?

Have you tried re-installing IIS ?
No I haven't, but it's a thought, however I will move my site first and see what that does, the odd thing is the slowness kind of coincided with moving to the new sql server, which frankly is just bizarre, considering the new sql box runs rings round the old one plus everything else on the server is running fine and has been since the day it was installed. Anyway, it was due for retirement soon, it has been running as a webserver for almost 5 years now, so it's about time it was put out to pasture. |

I will, too. I hate retirements!

well, it runs fine on the new server anyway, so it is definately something on the server being a twat, will move evrything of it and give it a reformat and reinstal of windows, that should keep it happy for a while longer. |

I use it at home on one of my dev machines, but haven't got round to buying any commercial licences yet, plus I have yet to see any real advantages over win2K. |
