I was able to view Huw's profile, but it took 126.27 seconds to load. I tried to view Podge's Profile but got a timeout. I could see his contact info (email and yahoo im) and the topics he had posted in, but nothing else. Ruirib's profile loaded in 81.2 seconds and my own profile loaded in 45.19 seconds. |

huw's profile... This page was generated in 90.28 seconds.
ruirib profile... This page was generated in 54.17 seconds.
Huw you can send me a message if you need me to help you run any other test's. One thing I would try is have it output the page generation times before and after each query on for a given member's id.
If MemberID=756 Then
Response.Write "Starting to run query XX at " & pageloadtime & "<br>"
End If
' # RUN QUERY HERE
If MemberID=756 Then
Response.Write "Finished running query XX at " & pageloadtime & "<br>"
End If
This way maybe could figure out what part of the page is taking the longest. |

After Cripto's post, I tried a few more and they all seem to be timing out on recent topics, co I tried this member who has no posts and it loaded up in 0.11 seconds.

It's not just the profiles for me, the whole forum has been really slow over the past few days. I have been waiting 14.32 seconds for this Reply To Topic page to appear.
Maybe the database and/or server is getting overloaded? |

No on both counts, the database server is hardly even crawling let alone overloaded, and that wouldn't explain why I can view the profiles in under 0.2 secs, it has to be a dodgy query somewhere.
The web server isn't particularly great, but is in no way overloaded, it is only running half a dozen sites, none of which are even remotely busy. I would move it to a newer faster server but do not have control of the DNS. |

No one uses reply to topic! Real Snitzers use quick reply! .
Just kidding. Just tested reply to topic and took about 5 seconds. Posting from quick reply is much faster. |

Just tried some profiles:
ruirib - 72.2 RichardKinser - 22.69 HuwR - 108.2 Davio - Timed out OneWayMule - 13.66 @tomic - .22 crash - .48
Seems like the problem is mainly with Admin/Moderator profiles...
Oh, and another thing: A few hours ago I received a 'No website registered at this address' error. It lasted for a few hours and then I could get on again |

Ok, well it isn't the sql queeries, they are executing very quickly on the SQL box, so will do as brad suggested and add some timers to the profile page to see where the hold up is.
I will make a post here when I have done it (probably the weekend) so some of you can test it out. |

Looking at the profiles that Jorrit posted, could it be related to the last post time? The longer ago the last post was, the faster the profiles seem to be loading.
Tried it meself and profiles for people who haven't posted in the years are loading normally with the load time going up as the last post date does.

Just had a look myself and the following was achived:
Users who have been on in the last 12 months: PeeWee.Inc: 27.14 seconds Shaggy: 94.81 seconds (this was after his profile did not load fully) RichardKinser: 18.14 seconds Rasco: 0.14 seconds Reinsnitz: 4.67 seconds @tomic: 0.12 seconds
Users who have not been on for over 12 months: Freeman II: 0.14 seconds freddydoes: 8 seconds fatwillie: 6.98 seconds Funkyfin2000: 0.09 seconds Fulgan: 0.12 seconds fsscreenshots: 0.16 seconds
Really there is not consistancy in it at all. It appears to me to be a network issue more than anything as I viewed the profile of each group at the same time and they where pretty much consistant except for 3 of them who where viewed 1 after the other.. |
Cheers, David Greening |
