Hi, I'm setting up and testing my forum and I tried the "Forgot Password?" function. When I recieved the e-mail the key was not entirely included in the link. There were about 8 characters that appeard outside of the link, so I had to copy and paste to get to the change password page. Any clues? Not everyone would think of copying and pasting.
Thanks, Tom |

That's just your email app or email server that breaks it. It's common with AOL, and I'm afraid there is no way around it... that we could recommend.
There is a mod to "shorten" the lenght of the generated key, but that increases the chances for repeated keys being generated, so we cannot advise its use. |

Thanks for such a quick reply. Well, is there any way I can change the text in a generated e-mail and add something like "if the link below doesn't work, copy and paste into the address bar of your browser" or something like that? I've been wondering about changing the default e-mail texts. I was thinking about adding stuff to the e-mail they get when they register, and maybe some dynamic text to the subscription announcements, like the subject of the post and maybe the first sentence or two of the post.
Thanks Again, Tom |

Yes, you can change the email text. For registration, that can be done around line# 585, register.asp.
Regarding changes in the subscription, please search the Mods forums and archives, because I think it has been done before (it's not as simple a changes as the registration one). |

I had the impression it had caused repeated generated keys, that's something to have in mind when using it. |
