Hello,

I've just downloaded the latest version of Snitz Forums and I'm trying to configure it. However, I keep getting the following error message when running setup.asp

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01a8'

Object required: 'Session'

/Forum/config.asp, line 37

I searched this site and it appears that there is a problem with sessions but there wasn't a clear solution.

This is the link to the forum.

The I.T department here is supporting the webserver but they weren't sure what to do about to correct the problem. I think that the webserver is running IIS6 - could you help with this problem please!

Thanks

Andy

This is something your host will need to sort out for you, they need to enable sessions.

Search is your friend

Yes, I realise that, but how do you enable sessions in IIS? The I.T people seem pretty clueless about IIS and I thought someone on here might know how to do this.

Cheers

You do it from IIS manager (It's one of the administrative tools). Once opened, right click the web site, choose Properties, Home Directory Tab, Configuration Button, Options tab, check Enable Session State.

Hello,

I tried what you suggested but Enable Session State is already ticked in IIS and I am still getting the same problem. Is there anything else that it could be?

Thanks

That is usually enough. I don't know whether there is something more that needs to be done with IIS 6 to enable sessions. I've never used IIS 6. Maybe someone else can help.
