Any time! I have this running on two separate forums, one with an Access2k db and the other on MSSQL2k.
Once you get your Photo Mod working, then install the nconvert utility to create the thumbnails, but note that the nconvert utility is not necessary. If you don't have it, it will just resize (i.e. squeeze) the main picture into the thumbnail spot. You can turn off the thumbnails if you don't want this to happen. The only good reason to turn it off is so the people don't have to wait for the thumbnails to load.
Also, I bumped my max photo size up to 200k. That's about the size of a 640x480 jpg. If you want bigger pix in your Photo Album, then up this number accordingly.
Let me know how it goes!

If it's running on an intranet, it sounds like you have console access to the server...
Check your permissions again, make sure you give the IUSR_<servername> user has Full Control and the Everyone group has Read and Write permissions. That's how mine is.
Also, go back to the troubleshooting and see what that says the direct path is, verify that it is correct. I had to change my forum folder to be a true path instead of a virtual directory. When it was a virtual directory, it was not mapping the path properly. It's possible this is your problem.

By true path do you mean physical path? Because i had to change to a physical path...my host wouldn't let me do a virtual path...

How would you make sure of this? Is there a place where i can do this? |

I have given the IUSR_<...> full rights and still nothing. The funny thing is that I can delete and add photo album accounts as admin. This means that when I add users account, it will create the folders for the users, so this means that it is able to write to the photos folder, right? This has to be some other problem other than read/write permissions.
I also tried entering the the physical path to the photo album admin, but it doesn't take it. It says "invalid_path_statement_please_fix"
I'm about to give up with this mod. I have read the entire 6 page thread where the author posted and published this mod last year and people kept having the same problem and they kept asking him how to fix this, but no answer. I hope some miracle happens. |

John John, yes, I meant the physical path.
adonix, did you check to make sure your permissions are inheritable? That could be the problem...

groggo,
Going on what you have said here, that is your problem.quote: Originally posted by groggo

You are not on a Windows host, but a non-Windows host with something like ChilliASP or SunOne. Something anyway. If that is the case, and others are not on a Windows host, then the Photo Mod will not work. It uses Windows Scripting Host and FileSystemObject to get the photos online, and non-Windows servers can not use it as they do not have it.
I hope that makes it clear to some of you. |

Are you the administrator? If so, then right click on the folder in Windows Explorer and go to Security and add the user and grant them the permissions. If you are not the administrator of the server, ask them to double check the permissions.

opps i was only using that as example off full access permissions im on a windows 2003 server now and i know unixs chmod commands are not the same as windows pardon my rather linux way of thinking
my webhost has told me my permissions are set for the album feature
and fact is the bugger worked for 2 weeks yes uploading pics
but all of sudden the bugger now refuses to allow uploads
my question is why nothing has changed on my webhost and i havent changed one thing on the snitz forum that was running the album mod
i do test in forums that are not live for any new mods
this problem with this mod is a bizzare one similar to getting the poll mod to work with the events mod to now i cannot get them both to work on the same forum
hence i will continue to pull my hair out and play with the code on my test forums until i either work it out myself or someone else figures this problem out
keep on snitzin doods still a far better option to the php hack fest phpbb2 |

Withanhdammit,
Permissions are inheritable and I also tried un-inherable and still no success. I also tried the folder where I'm able to upload avatars since it is letting me write/upload files to there, but still not working. I don't know what it is! It's frustating. Please post more ideas! |

I don't want this thread to just get forgotten. I've been researching for the last couple of days and trying different things about this photo album mod, but I haven't been so lucky to come up with something that resolves this issue.
I have read posts where poeple have had the same problem when trying to upload pics. They get these same errors: 1.) exact path to file: /forum/photos Write to file failed. No Errors detected, If you are still having problems please send me an email File has been saved in file system. (This happens with the troubleshooter)
2. Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'
Script timed out
/forum/photo_album_upload.asp
The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools. (When trying to upload a pic as admin)
3. Error! Invalid character or bad word in any of the text fields. Please correct and try again. (When trying to upload a pic as a regular user)
Now some of these people has posted that they have had success at resolving this issue, but they do not state "how." It would be great of someone could post how they fixed this problem. |

Well I found that when I used Internet Explorer to upload a file, it was successful...WOW!!!
However, I'm using firefox and this is where it doesn't work. Anybody knows a fix to this. If I find one I will post it here! |
