Tmpj's "Header Cell Image Mod 3.4" works well - except that the original header cell color briefly flashes before the .gif image pops into place.
The mod works, but am I seeing some code inefficiency? Would it be an easy correction to fix it?
See it at: http://artisanwork.com/forum/default.asp Click the refresh buttom a few times and it becomes apparent.

This is because some broswers will load/render a background image as the very last item on a page but the same broswers may load your CSS file as soon as it encounters it. Have a look at that page in Firefox and you'll notice the difference. There's nothing you can do about it other than curse it from the highest height - I don't know how many CSS image rollovers I've thrown out the window because of that "flicker"!

Thanks Shaggy. No worries now. I tried viewing it with FireFox and the flicker stops.
But now, I've noticed FireFox is inconsistent in how it displays the column widths.
After hitting the refresh button a few times I noticed that FireFox sometimes widened the columns under Topics, Posts, Last Posts and Moderator(s). And the Topic column became narrower.
The world is not a perfect place. . .

Again, this is due to the different way broswers rener HTML elements. Internet Explorer,, for example, will wait until it encounters the </table> tag before rendering a table on screen whereas Firefox will render the table cell by cell as it encounters the relevant HTML. This means that Firefox may have to adjust column widths as it's rendering the table which may, at times, result in strange results. If you've given the cells in the first row of your table a defined width, you should be able to alleviate this problem. Refreshing the page will also render the table as you would expect to see it.
