Dayve, could you go into more detail about trillian? I've got trillian Pro... I'm curious how to do this |

I'm not on my computer at the moment. Perhaps later this evening. |

It should start picking up the feeds rather quickly. Maybe a reboot is in order.
BTW, I came across this cool little item:
you can get one for your RSS or favorite RSS here:
http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/home |

I forgot to filter out a character, thanks for pointing that out.
I have 2 RSS feeds because I wanted one that I can use specifically for NIN Discussions so my friend can link to it on his main site on a different server located here:
http://www.burningsouls.com (see recently viewed topic discussions)
Then I wanted one for ALL topics discussed on my forum. |

the Snitz RSS feed mod needs tweaking to be more up to date. notice the 2 feeds from snitz and burning souls forums are not showing the dates, but dayve's blog does? I am in the process of updating the script to the latest formats.
unfortunately these dynamic signatures only show the last 5 topics, I would have prefered 10. |

When I was using FeedReader I tweaked Richard's original code to include part of the post (i.e. not just the topic heading).
Also, the reason why it doesn't work sometimes (mine at least) is that it doesn't handle & properly. A simple change I know, I've just never got around to fixing it. I think there are a few other characters that will throw an error if there is whitespace either side. |

XML files have a few illegal characters that can not be used which are &, <, >, " and '. All you need is a function to strip these characters from the recordset fields.
RSSRestrict = "&|<|>|""|'"
RSSRestrictArray = Split(RSSRestrict, "|")
Function CleanText(fString)
For i = lbound(RSSRestrictArray) to ubound(RSSRestrictArray)
fString = Replace(fString, RSSRestrictArray(i), "")
Next
CleanText = fString
End Function
Then simply use the CleanText function around the fields that create the XML file. |
