A friend and I were recently discussing some changes we'd like to make to Snitz, and he asked me if there was an IRC channel for Snitz. I'm unaware of one that currently exists, so we set one up! I thought it might be a good place for us to discuss, chat and give support.

irc.masternap.org : 6667
#snitz

Anyone is welcome to join, and ask questions, help out or chat with other Snitzers!

Yeah I figured it would be a great spot for people to hang out and discus the forums, ASP, etc.

Can we move this over to the annoucements forum?

I haven't used IRC in years.

What IRC client are you using Dave?

I use ***X on Linux. :D

But sometimes I'll use mIRC, or TrillianPro to connect too.

I think the problem is timezones. Not many Snitzers are online when people like me, Gremlin and Stephen are on

I went in last night but there was nobody there.

Why don't you try to schedule a time?

Gonna download mIRC later on today and get it setup.

There are no schedule times in IRC, you just go in and hang out till people show up and everything gets rolling.

Its common practice to schedule online chats. Beats hanging around waiting for someone to show up.

IMHO (& I hate to be a pesimist), but a scheduled time will be great for meet & greets, but not so hot for support.

Meet & greets - sure, I might stay up, or wake up early for one.

Support - most people want an answer asap.

Also, Support via IRC is live - the benefit is that the problem is fixed quicker. The problem is that there's no history, you can't search the answer in 6 months to see what happened, find the person that helped you, or just see what problems people are having.

I have an IRC channel is good for chatting, but not for the service available here.

What times would be good for some of you? Once we get an idea of the best time we can schedule a day for it. (Or make it a weekly thing?)
