I would like to have each reply numbered as they are entered within the topic starting from 1 through to as many replies that maybe placed in that topic. I know that the number of posts relating to the person that makes them is there, in the coloum with the Author, but I want the post itself numbered from 1 to whatever, hope this explains it.
The reason for this so that a person replying to a post can identify the post by its number, so there is less confussion who is answering who.

That can just be dont by quoting someone.
However, there was a MOD to do this some time back, try a search. |

Thanks for that but not what I'm looking for, I would like to have the first reply for the topic to have "Reply 1" on the post and then each reply after that number numerical e.g "Reply 2" and so on I thought I might have to create a new field in the data base was thinking about using the reply id number but that is not contained to the topic it is spread over all topics any ideas.

I had a play and found that if I changed the line 595 of topic.asp to the following, then I got the required unique number of each reply as a reference to fall back on if needed.
Response.Write "valign=""top""align=""right""><font color=""" & strForumFontColor & """ face=""" & strDefaultFontFace & """ size=""" & strFooterFontSize & """><small>Post ID " & Reply_ReplyID & "</small></font><br />" & vbNewLine & _
Hope this will help someone else who may wish to have the posts numbered.
