I have a disturbing problem with a forum run on a corporate intranet. It contain 30 forums or so, gathered into 6 categories. Since I have a need to display the categories and forums in a particular order, i have used the ordering function. The problem is that when i have done that, some categories and/or forums are not displayed at all.
It is possible to go around this to some extent, by setting/changing the sorting order once again (for example setting the same order number for two forums), but in some cases, the categories are gone.
Also, when opening the categories by clicking the category link, all forums are not displayed. This is illustrated in the images attached:
In the forum view:

In the category view:

I have looked into the database to see if I could find a pattern for the categories or forums that vanishes, but with no success.
The forum version is 3.4.04, run on a 03 server (IIS6). The database is Access.
I appreciate any input for this problem!

Doesnīt anyone really have any input to this matter? It seems to me like a fundamental function in the application to display forums and categories properly. Perhaps I havenīt described my problem good enough, but in that case please let me know what questions you might have.

Hi, peka.
I'm not sure I understand in what cases you see all the forums, and in what cases not.
However, just as a suggestion, I installed the Forum config order MOD, and I have never had any problems with it, maybe it can be helpful for you. |

I've never seen the forum exhibit the problem you describe, have you made any mods to your forum at all? |

No, no mods, except the Forum config order MOD I just installed from the tip of Miperez above. It didnīt help by the way. Thanks anyway.
Well, for example, I have a category called "Feedback" that contains one forum called "FAQ/Forum Feedback". That category is ordered to be displayed last of the categories. But it is not displayed at all! I can see it in the database and in the Order dialog, but never in the main page.

Repeated values for the forums was a workaround I mentioned above. When I do as you suggest, the category Feeback is displayed with its forum. Instead, two other forums are gone:
- In category Training/Documentation, the forum BITE2 Technical Framework v.2.1 (.zip, 7,0 mb) - In category Clients/Windows XP, the forum BTF Client Basics

Well with your database I had no problem whatsoever. All categories and forums were/are displayed. I run a basic 3.4.04 test forum, no mods. If you want I can email you the corrected database, but my reply yesterday was rejected as spam. |

OK. Problem solved by replacing my server files with a new set of 3.4.04 files, except the database. Now everything seems to work. Thank you Ruirib for your help! |
