Which IM client(s) do you use most, and how much do you use them?
Personally, I always have MSN turned on, and have AIM and YIM installed to chat with people who don't use MSN (only turn it on for an hour or two at night).
I'm asking because if you're a "power user", I might have something interesting for you. |

I've used Trillian (www.trillian.cc) for a couple of years now. MSN/ICQ/Yahoo/IRC+more in the same client. Very easy I think. At work though I use web based versions: ICQ: http://go.icq.com MSN: http://webmessenger.msn.com/

I dislike messangers, and when forced spend more time insatlling & uninstalling them than actually using them. My, power user, brother uses ICQ and swears by Miranda. |

I rather like jabber as a messaging protocol as it is client agnostic (so there are 40+ different client implementations for all sorts of OSes etc, some high-chrome, some really teensy etc). The messaging protocol is all XML-based, and the server (it is not p2p, but server-connected - again pick your server implementation from many, or use someone elses, you'll have no problems finding one, and yes, they can talk to one another) can have plugins to gateway to Yahoo, MSN, AIM, SMTP, etc.
If you're into code and architecture, you'll nejoy investigating jabber :) |

I'm an MSN fan. It works really nice and has some of the best features. |

Dedicated Trillian supporter, one of the best pieces of software I've ever paid for !!
I am a definite PowerUser, usually logged in 24/7 - great for managing site problems, giving support, and just catching up with friends. |

I use Trillian because I have friends who refuses to use ICQ, MSN, AOL-IM, or Yahoo. Im using much the same way that laser does, giving support and chatting with friends. |

I haven't liked Trillian after I paid for the first "pro" version that just didn't do what was promised. I haven't tried any of the other "multi-protocol messengers", mostly because for months I've only used MSN, though a few months ago I had to get YIM and AIM.
Seeing how others have posted about it on other forums, and there's no closed beta anymore, I think it's safe to post here now: http://imvu.com/catalog/web_invitation.php?av=0&userId=50
Yes, that is a link that will get me a little gift if you decide to sign up and pay for your username. If you'd rather not use that link, use this one, though I would appreciate it if you used the first link http://www.imvu.com/
Please, before you attack me, keep in mind this is still in beta and currently has a bunch of bugs that might stop you from using it. The software, a standard avatar, one "room", and your name (with guest_ in front of it) are free. If you want more, you'll have to sign up, but it's not expensive.
Also, I've made a site to show the things I've made so far: http://www.frutzle.com/imvu/
Roland
P.S. please don't download the PDF documents unless you've signed up. They're not huge, but I'd rather save my bandwidth for people who actually want to use the files :) |

Isn't it a once-off lifetime payment ?? ... do yourself a favour and download now And since when did a first version deliver on all promises

Yes, I see the referrer info in the first URL, what's in it for you for referring a ton of users to them ? |

The payment is to keep your name to yourself (remove guest_ from it in the chat) for one year.
I get AV$10,000 if someone uses my link to register and pay for their username. |
