I'll keep it short: For a while I've been looking for a couple songs that I want, but can't find any good quality MP3s, and won't buy a bunch of CDs just to get one song off of each. Over here Napster and iTunes won't work, and the music download service my ISP uses is http://www.0d2.com and requires a subscription with credits that disappear after 30 days if you didn't use them, which I refuse to do.
So, to try and keep this short, does anyone know of any international, legal download services that let you pay for each song you download and won't need a subscription?
Well I tried to keep it short |

Oh theres that Russian one too .. can't remember the name of it, if you search TheScrenSavers archive at the G4TechTV website you should find it, they've mentioned it on there a few times. |

I use http://www.bignoisemusic.com (which is OD2 in drag, but Oxfam get 10%), and the credits do not vanish after a month for me, £2 worth has lasted months, as I just stream a track (for 1p a play) when i want it (as, let's face it, I probably don't want to listen to it more than 99 times).

Looks like Eircom don't restrict access to their service to us Irish. You can preview what they have to offer here before signing up.

Another od2 site... I really can't wait for iTunes to get started here. |

Those are great links OWM, thanks! I think allofmp3.com suits me best, as it doesn't require a subscription of any kind, and I don't regularly download songs. If that changes, I can always look for a cheaper alternative. |

Ah, just reread your first post and I get what you mean by an od2 site; thought you were referring to some sort of software required.
Eircom do offer a "pay as you go" option as well as the monthly subscriptions, you can view the differnt methods of payment here. As you can see, the minimum purchase with the "pay as you go" option is €2.99 which gets you 3 songs.

Just a quick update: I've gone with allofmp3.com and I must say it's an amazing site. You pick the quality you want the files to be, even get to pick between variable bit rate and constant bit rate (two codecs, though I've only tried the LAME one), and just download. Their download tool seems to make the downloads much faster than when you download off their site though. |

Ah okay Gremlin. Aside from free downloads, I don't think there's anything as cheap as this, plus it's really easy to use. |
