Marketing?? And here I thought people joined up because google was thier best search engine and would try anything new that google came up with. Silly me! :-(
Yahoo! will be raising storage limits i've heard. 100 mb for normal users. Also, dozens of other free email providers will need to raise storage limits to cope with the 1 gb google is offering. I know when I start providing e-mail for users I will need to offer at least a gb of storage to keep up with the times.
For me storage was never really the problem. As much as I might like the idea of Google mail, I've had my yahoo account for so long that pretty much anyone I know will know to contact me there. The same is true for a lot of friends and their AOL accounts.
Getting a google account doesn't really bridge that gap, unless the Google search engine can direct old friends who are looking for me to a new google Gmail account. I'd really like to see them do that.
