An 18 year old German student has been arrested for creating the Sasser virus. According to the news on TV he's "extremely intelligent", but the police found the computer he created the virus on in his room... I don't know, but someone intelligent would've made sure nothing incriminating could be found on the PC used to create a virus on.

Haha, he was probably looking to get caught just because he wanted the publicity. |

Were people using the built-in winxp firewall protected against sasser ? I use a 3rd party firewall and had no problems. |

someone who was intelligent wouldn't create the virus in the first place. |

Aren't you equating intelligence with some sense of morality, Huw? After all "intelligent" people also put developed poision gas, nuclear weapons, machine guns, etc.

No not at all, morality has nothing to do with creating the things, only the reasoning behind your deploying them requires a sense of morality, plus it doesn't require a high degree of intelligence to create a virus or worm, in coding terms they are very simple, I have written a few myself in the past, but obviously never let them get out. |
