He may mean that if the user has a link to his photo in his profile, then he would like to see that photo displayed in the forum. To do that do you also need the avatar mod ?
Give this a try. The line numbers may be slightly off and itt may need some minor tweakage for v3.4.04, but it should do the trick for you.
