I'm on a 56k dialup and during an internet session of say 1 hour i get at least 4 warning from my norton firewall:

"Attempt to connect to local computer using the Backdoor/Subseven Trojan horse blocked"
TCP inbound
remote address 172.139.23.130:3042 (this changes)

Does everybody get these warnings so often, or am i just special?

If i didnt have a firewall i think my pc would be up the creek without a paddle. it is still alarming though.

You most likely have a Trojan on your computer. You need to update your virus definitions and run a virus scan ASAP. Norton *should* be able to get rid of it automatically, but maybe not.

If no Trojan shows up, try running an online scan at sarc.com. Sometimes that one picks up things NAV won't (don't know why).

A Trojan can be a dangerous thing--they're designed to hijack your computer from a remote location. In the future, you should scan all new and incoming files to prevent this from happening.

It may not actually mean you do have a trojan though, It may just be that someone is actually scanning your computer to see if you do have it, port scanning is extremely common, my firewall probably gets anywhere from a few dozen to 30-40 scans daily.

thanks for the tips.

I ran trendmicro webscan, but it reports nothing.

A mate of mine suggest i run SwatIT, a trojan scanner. I am downloading it now.

Think of the 10000s of people without firewalls, their security/privacy could be severly compromised.
